Data knew how to throw a guilt trip…

The guy had no emotions but he sure could make you feel like crap. Perhaps it was his lack of emotion, his rationality that made him so good at it. I’m sure he took advantage of that and could get people to do things by just being rational.

I think I’ve watched too much Star Trek and invested too much time into it when I can watch an episode and find the flaws, the time line issues, the complete lack of recognizing past shows and so forth.

There are times when I’ll be watching it and asking, “Who wrote this crap?!”

But it’s still good most of the time. Some of the shows are sappy. But most are good. Spike plays Voyager and BBC America plays The Next Generation. Spike used to play Deep Space 9 but not anymore. I wish they played all three.

Why would anyone be annoyed or unable to work with an android? I mean how could Data be bad at being a Captian. Yeah he’s emotionless but he’s probably the best person to command a ship.

I like to pretend they weren’t morons and didn’t kill Data off in the last movie. I mean how utterly stupid. Brent Spiner said on his Twitter once that he couldn’t reprise his role as Data because he’s aged and Data doesn’t age. But in the TNG episode when Data found his mom it was said that both his mother and Data had aging programs. Yes Data is technically unable to die (unless the ship he’s on blows up) but he had an aging program. This was conveniently forgotten in the series finale All Good Things, where Data hadn’t aged a bit, but everyone else had.

So you have to wonder how these things slipped past? Do they not have quality control people who say “Oh hey no. In this episode we stated this was so, and thus this can’t be written.” Apparently not. Of course something as small as Data’s ability or lack there of, to age, may just have slipped through.

Things like Data’s cat Spot changing from a Tortoise Shell cat to a Tabby are things they hope you don’t notice but obviously don’t care too much about. Or like the fact that Data’s emotion chip went from a rather large chip to this microscopic thing in First Contact. Things only real Star Trek fans would notice I guess.

Anyhow I wish that Rick Berman hadn’t throughly ruined Star Trek as he did. I wish we could have a TNG like show on the air. But with as horrible as Enterprise did (I’ll never watch that piece of crap series) and now with the rewriting of the time line with the Star Trek movie (although the movie was great and hell I can now say Data never did die, since they’ve gone up and basically allowed the whole thing to be redone properly) we’ll probably never see a new Star Trek on the air ever again.

Sir Patrick Stewart!

Patrick Stewart, the best damn actor ever, is now a Knight! Pretty cool.

Now if only they would do another Star Trek movie since the timeline has been rewritten and all.

What I wouldn’t give to see the Enterprise-E back on the big screen. That ship was beautiful.

Star Trek

Star Trek was great. It would have been better on the IMAX screen but it was great on the regular one as well. Some things I missed, the music didn’t follow anything we’ve expected in the past. I wish there would have been a little bit more with that.

Now on to timeline issues. They weren’t as big as you’d have believed although technically the movie does reset the entire timeline. What’s great about that? We can now pretend that Nemesis never happened and that Data is alive and well. It’s not a huge reset of the time-line and of course it could be explained away too with some creative thinking, but hey if we’re changing a rather minor aspect of history can’t we get rid of the stupidest decision any Star Trek writer has made and not have Data die?

I’m hoping though that this reset though allows for more movies (which if you didn’t know they are already writing the next movie due to be released in 2011!). So this reset allows us more films where with a cast that most everyone enjoys and it also opens up the possibilities of seeing some of the newer series as well in film. Who knows maybe DS9 will finally get a film or even Voyager!

So in the end that the reset isn’t such a bad thing and really adds a bit to the overall story. It was a great film. Really worth watching. I might just go see it again too. I’ll buy it for sure on Blu-Ray when it’s released. LOL!!

Step-Brothers…

So Step-Brothers was hilarious. Now it’s not something a person who is sensitive would watch. It’s hilariously stupid basically and that’s typical of those types of movies. You really have to like the actors and the humor in order to enjoy the movie. Talledega Nights was hilarious and this one was just as hilarious as well. It was a good movie to watch today and a good one to watch if you need a laugh.

Speaking of step-brothers tomorrow we’re going to the UCLA vs ASU women’s softball game which is part of Simi Valley Girls Softball day. We go to almost all of my neices softball games (at least the ones we can make) and I take tons of pictures (you can see them in the My Photos section). We’re grooming Kaylee to play as well. She can start I think at 3.5 or at least at 4 years old.

LOL! I love Star Trek: The Next Generation. Great stuff there. Never understood what the writers were thinking with the first three seasons but hey it got better as it went on and that’s the point. Best Star Trek ever.

32 paint cards and a Star Trek rant…

That’s how many shades of pink I picked up at Lowes today. So now I need to sort through them and pick a color. If anyone wants to help me pick a pink let me know.

On Star Trek front. I can’t believe the crap they’ve pulled with this movie. I mean it looks great but frankly where they got off rewriting the timeline is beyond me. This movie is centered around bringing in people to see the movie, not bringing in the fans. I understand the movie has to make money. But why the fans get screwed in all of this is beyond me. Bring me some TNG and I’ll be happy. Lets pretend they didn’t kill Data off (and no transfering thoughts into another “Data” doesn’t count) and bring back the most beautiful ship ever, the Enterprise E, and have us some great filmage there.
