Leaked Documents

Today was Dr. Laura’s commentary on the leaked war documents that a soldier leaked to a website called Wikileaks because he wasn’t happy with the war and doesn’t believe we should be there. She commented on how there’s been little to no real outrage over it and I have to agree. It seems like the media just doesn’t exactly know how to cover this story.

Some people are praising the person who leaked the files, and frankly I don’t see how you can. I can’t see how anyone can see this action as the correct thing to do. Morally it’s wrong, and ethically as well. How many people has this man put in danger over his disagreement with the war? I mean seriously he’s willing to risk the lives of soldiers because politically he doesn’t agree? How stupid is that? This guy is far from a hero. He’s a coward.

And the poor dude who had the ethics and morals to report the leak to the FBI is being threatened.  How f-ed up is that? He does the right thing and people are sending him death threats? Do people not see how serious it is to leak classified documents to the media?

Of course these people are probably the same ones who think they know better than the other administration (Bush and Obama) and could run things better. You know Arm Chair Soldiers. It’s easy sitting behind a computer when you don’t have to make those actual decisions.

So we should be mad, very mad and more people should be up in arms over it.

I wonder what MckMama thinks about these Leaked Documents.

On a side note, yes I listen to Dr. Laura. No I don’t agree with everything, but a lot of what she says is just plain common sense in my opinion.

What’s the benefit…

A week or two ago there was a Prius out of control in San Diego. Immediately I was skeptical about what had happened. Toyota and the government (independent of Toyota) did an investigation and found they could not in any way reproduce what happened and that the car did what it was supposed to do. And I believe that. I believe there was nothing wrong with the car. That this man made this up, not for money, because he doesn’t plan to sue, but rather for something smaller, 15 minutes of fame or oddly enough, a newer car.

Think of it the only major gain for this man, besides money but since he isn’t suing it’s not that, is that he’s recognized for a little bit or he gets a new car! And those can be major motivators especially for a man such as him who has lost everything in bankruptcy just a few years before. I mean he lost everything but that car. So perhaps he was just wanting a new car?

I guess the reason I didn’t believe the story is because it didn’t make sense. Why did the car not want to stop until the police showed up? Why did pulling the emergency brake (which frankly if he was afraid the car would flip if put in neutral why would he think the emergency brake would be any better) and stomping on the breaks at the same time, work? If he was pounding the breaks and the car not stopping wouldn’t that have destroyed the engine? Or is his contention not that the accelerator was stuck but rather the brakes faulty?

That being said if you drive a Toyota here’s what you do. TURN YOUR CAR OFF or PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL. Neutral is faster but turning your car off is as simple as holding down the engine button for 3 seconds. It will make the car stop going. Don’t panic, just turn it off and hold on tight to the steering wheel. I’m not sure if power steering goes out the window when the car is off, but even so just hold the wheel straight until you come to a stop. Then put on the emergency brake so the car doesn’t move.

Also I found this tidbit interesting. Toyota isn’t the only car company to have encountered these problems. Audi apparently had this issue as well. And the problems aren’t as “bad” as we would be lead to believe. A lot of the complaints are just that, complaints that are unfounded. But because of the news, people are hyper-vigilant and thus are experiencing things even when things aren’t happening.

I own a 2008 Toyota Camry, Hybrid (which from what I understand may not have been included in the recall anyhow) and fully trust the vehicle. These issues don’t come on suddenly. They get worse over time. It’s paying attention to your car and knowing when something is wrong instead of waiting for the shit to hit the fan.

ETA:

Wait there’s more! Apparently he never “slammed” on the brakes, just lightly tapped them. Now come on. And also I mentioned his other cars being taken away but this car was supposed to be taken away too in the next few months cause he’s 700K in debt. Another motive really to make this story up, if your car endangers you what company would force you to pay off your loan? Makes you think.

Very Sad Story…

I heard this on FHF and I’m not sure Heidi had the story completely true or maybe she omitted stuff because it really isn’t as funny as she made it out to be.

A 4 year old escaped from his home, wandered around the neighborhood, broke into a neighbors home, opened the presents and then hid them, took a beer from the fridge and wandered around more until he was found. (linky)

What wasn’t mentioned on FHF was first that no where does it say the boy was sleep walking, but that the boy’s father is currently in jail and that the boy has been running away to be with his father and does “bad things” in the hopes of going to jail to be with his father.

How utterly sad is that. The mother says she has door safety locks (you know those ones that go over the knobs) but that he broke it (which doesn’t surprise me, they aren’t always kid proof) and got out. When she woke up the first thing she noticed was that he was gone. I don’t see her as being a bad mommy, stuff like this happens, plus she’s divorcing her husband so it sounds like she’s trying her best to do the right thing for her kids.

This poor boy though is obviously not coping well with the situation and needs to help to get through this. And I’m sure the mother is going through a lot, she’s quoted as saying she feels like a failure. Hopefully though she gets the help she needs with this child so that he doesn’t do something like this again.

It’s a very interesting and sad story. Not nearly as funny as FHF made it out to be today on their show.

Balloon Boy…

Odd how that name caught on. It started on Twitter I believe.

Anyhow if you’ve been living under a rock here is the story:

1. Weather Balloon flies loose and family says their 6 year old son, Falcon (aka Balloon Boy) is in the balloon.

2. It flies for like 2 hours sometimes going as high as 7500 ft. Lands gently and no boy inside.

3. Boy is found 3 hours later in the attic at their house hiding.

4. Boy says on TV interview with CNN: “I thought we did this for the show.”

So after some investigation and apparently a search warrant being issued, they found proof that this had been planned and was two weeks in the making. Bastards. So the parents are going to turn themselves in for arrest, CPS is investigating and that poor 6 year old who wanted nothing but to tell the truth had to suffer through interview after interview being pushed by his parents to lie (which is why he threw up several times during those interviews).

Obviously these parents aren’t very sharp or bright and frankly they scare the shit out of me because how could anyone put their children through that? Through the interviews, asking a 6 year old to lie, and tell big lies, and blame be placed on him, which is why I think he had trouble lying in the first place, they just didn’t seem to care what they were doing to him. That poor child.

Honestly I hope those children go to live with more stable family members, ones who put the children first over their want for fame.

What a bunch of fucktards.

Racist!

So apparently Carter called Wilson a racist. I’m not sure how that could have been concluded? The guy shouted “You Lie” at the President, not “Black People Suck!” or something like that. So how is “you lie” a racist comment? Doesn’t make much sense. There is racism out there, but this wasn’t one of those instances. I think the guy just didn’t agree and things get heated sometimes and he said something a bit too loudly. He apologized to the President and it’s time to move on.
