The end of house hunting…

some good things never last

I’m done with this stuff. We’ve put bids on four different houses, sometimes over the asking price and we’re always the lowest bid on the place so I’m done. I’m done with this crap of having homes have five or more bids on them, and people bidding nearly 20K over the asking price. So I’m finished because why waste time doing it when we’re never going to compete with people who have more money than us.

It’s annoying because I could purchase a home today for 200K that is bigger than the homes up at Big Sky if I just drove 80 miles north. How fucked up is that?

The Real Life Adventures of House Buying…

Un sentiment de deuil .. A mourning sense.. :o(

So we decided not to go ahead with the offer on the other condo because we saw a better condo in a better part of Moorpark (by the college) which a yard and next to a play area and an attached garage. So we’ll be offering on that one instead and we’ll see what happens. I will say this process has been a bit discouraging in regards to actually seeing any acceptance to our offers but hey whatever I guess.

This condo was nice though. Fake wood floors just like I wanted. The kitchen could do with new appliances but that’s nothing that can’t be done later, the bedrooms were HUGE! The one Kaylee would go in is bigger than her current room. It has two bathrooms and one is downstairs and one is upstairs meaning we’d have to basically share with Kaylee but that’s not a big deal. The point is to have two toilets so that if one is occupied the other can be used. The second bathroom has a closet in it as well which is perfect for the cat litter boxes and that junk for the cats so that was great.

It needs new carpet on the stairs and in the bedrooms and it needs paint but other than that it’s basically move in ready. The laundry is just outside the sliding door to the patio but that’s not a huge deal because it’s a covered area so if it’s raining it won’t cause problems. Plus that allows for more space inside the home for living area.

Brian says not to get my hopes up but this one I’m hoping we get.

Five offers on the condo and I somehow doubt ours will even compete.

Writing up the offer…

So tonight we’re writing an offer on a 3 bedroom 2.5 bath, two story 1227 sq. ft. condo in Moorpark. I’m still not exactly keen on living in Moorpark but if we manage to get this condo it will be worth it as a starter home. It requires just paint and carpet on the stairs and upstairs of the unit. Nothing else. Maybe some new appliances even though the appliances look pretty new.

On a side note I went creative on the baking today and after I finished the cookies I got out my fresh Mozzarella and Prosciutto and made a warm wrap of sorts. Kaylee loves them and has had a bunch. I could only handle like one or two. It’s cool that she likes it though.
