Attack of the Easter Eggs

What do you do with Easter Eggs after Easter is over?

You dump them on your child and have them “attack” her.

Then you convince her that it’s fun to have tons of eggs poured all over you.

Then she can spend a few hours “hatching” eggs and playing with them.

But what do you do after she’s wearied of the eggs and they don’t hold her attention anymore?

They can be used for crafts. One craft I found was a flower. Now I don’t have tissue paper or pipe clearers, although I can go pick up the pipe clearers if I wanted. I do have small pieces of felt which can work just as well and work better in my opinion. We can cut out petals in all sorts of colors. Take the bottom half of the egg and use that as the center of the flower. That’s actually a great spring time craft and would work well for a center piece for Kaylee’s birthday Tea Party. I’ll have to put this craft into memory so we can do it.

Supplies needed for the above flower craft:

  • Pieces of felt, multiple colors.
  • Glue
  • 10 easter eggs (makes 20 flowers)
  • Pipe Cleaners (at least 40)

I also found educational games you can do with the eggs. Counting games, by writing numbers on them and having the children count them, or using those numbers for addition, thus teaching math. You can put alphabet letters inside and do a matching game, find big A and little a.

Of course there is always the option to just put them in a bag and store them where they won’t get lost and use them next year. But half the fun of Easter is buying the eggs each year, even if they only come from the dollar store.

What do you do with your left over plastic Easter eggs?
