A Child’s Understanding…
Do you think 3 years olds understand the concept of growing up?
I'm not sure I think they do but with how Kaylee talks, about not wanting to be 4, she likes being 3. I'm not sure if she just likes the number 3 or truly is afraid of getting older. Maybe it has nothing to do with being afraid and everything to do with Peter Pan and the whole concept of not growing up that movie revolved around.
Sometimes though it's heartbreaking to hear and it might be me more projecting my feelings on getting older and fears of dying in general.
I actually hate though that she goes to bed sad sometimes. She did not want to go to bed tonight. Cried and tried to talk to me in an effort to delay bed. But the mini breakdown she had just shows how tired she was anyhow. I'm sure if I go in there in 15 minutes she'll be asleep.
She's a joy to wake up to though.
"Mother (my child no longer calls me Mommy, thanks Peter Pan!) It's morning! I love you!" or it can be something like, "I love you! Good Morning!" Got to love the kids and their way of just making you melt.
