Often it’s not hard to find why some people hate religion in general especially Christianity. Sometimes you hear some of the most out there things in Christianity. Things that are often so contradictory you have to wonder how in the world these people came about these conclusions.
Chris Broughton, the man who brought an assault rifle and a handgun to President Obama’s event in Arizona last week, attended a fiery anti-Obama sermon the day before the event in which Pastor Steven Anderson said he was going to “pray for Barack Obama to die and go to hell.” [...]
“I don’t obey Barack Obama. And I’d like Barack Obama to melt like a snail tonight,” Anderson said in the sermon, which was titled “Why I Hate Barack Obama” and also contained virulent anti-gay themes.
“… You’re going to tell me that I’m supposed to pray for the socialist devil, murderer, infanticide, who wants to see young children and he wants to see babies killed through abortion and partial-birth abortion and all these different things — you’re gonna tell me I’m supposed to pray for God to give him a good lunch tomorrow while he’s in Phoenix, Arizona?
Nope. I’m not gonna pray for his good. I’m going to pray that he dies and goes to hell.”
I’m going to address the above using some of the past sermons that Pastor Bruce has done this summer, which focused around what love is and the different types of love that a Christian should have in order to be more like Christ. That’s probably a very simple explanation of what he talked about but it’s the gist of what I got out of them.
Just read the statement about praying for him. It seems to me that praying for his death, that all the hate, goes against everything that Jesus ever taught. Bruce talked about loving your neighbor, even if you hate them basically. He talked of the story of the Good Samaritan and how loving your neighbor doesn’t involve emotions but rather just involves what is right to do as a Christian. And what’s right to do as a Christian is be respectful and basically nice no matter how horrible you think people are. Now this doesn’t mean you have to associate with people who you feel are “bad” but it just means you’re not a nasty bitch to them. What I want to know is how this Pastor above is teaching that with his hateful expression against the President?
The next guy who just really has me asking, is this Christianity, is the guy who killed George Tiller, who is using Justifiable Homicide as his defense for killing Tiller.
Scott Roeder, 51, has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and aggravated assault charges in the May 31 shooting death of Tiller in the foyer of his Wichita church. The Kansas City, Mo., man has refused to discuss his case, but he has told The Associated Press that Tiller’s killing was justified to save “the lives of unborn children.”
So let me get this straight? You can disobey Biblical Law, you know the Thou Shalt Not Kill, because you were saving unborn children? It’s against the law and against Biblical Law. And forget the fact that this man killed Tiller in his own church. This comes down to the same premise as before, Love Your Neighbor. Loving your neighbor doesn’t involve killing them because you disagree with them.
I think what’s more scary about the above guy is the belief that you have to the right to kill someone because you disagree with what they do for a living. Tiller wasn’t just an abortion doctor as people like to say. He was a OBGYN who happened to be one of the few who performed much needed medical procedures that save women’s lives. People call this “partial birth abortions” but if they knew anything about what a “partial birth abortion” was and why it’s done they’d shut their ignorant mouths and not use it as a talking point to spread their hate.
The girl next door said she couldn’t vote for Obama because of this one issue. I asked her why? She said because babies shouldn’t be killed. I asked her if she knew what a PBA was. She said no. I told her to look it up, actually read about what the are and why they’re done, not on anti-PBA sites but on medical sites and then get back to me about it. She probably never did look it up, but seriously people PBA’s do not happen because a Mom goes in and says they don’t want a kid anymore. After 20 weeks that’s illegal. PBA’s only happen to save the life of the mother. Plain and simple. People want mother’s to die (which would result in the babies dying as well) and that makes no sense to me. So they’d rather two living beings die rather than one. How does this make any sense?
But forget that, Tiller was killed for doing something that isn’t illegal. Someone took the law into his own hands and killed the man because he didn’t like that the law allowed PBA. But you know what, what if I decide tomorrow I don’t like the law against stealing money and go rob a bank. Can I say I’m justified because my belief is that I have the right to take money because I need it to survive? Hardly.
This gets me back to the main point of this point. It’s people like the above who give Christians a bad name. Sadly the good Christians, the ones who aren’t hateful, who help people out, who are good people, don’t get the news like the bad ones do. It’s really too bad because I don’t know many Christians who would agree with the two people above.
So as probably a bunch of people know, there are fires burning through out California right now. The nearest one to me is about 20 miles away. This is what it looks like from my house:
So I want to really put together a West Coast Hyperinsulinism non-profit or fundraising organization. I think UCLA does some research on HI and I think it would be great if the West Coast had some sort of hospital or facility that we could go to with doctors who are just as educated and knowledgeable as the ones at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Problem is I don’t even know where to start. There are multiple fundraising organizations out there, but they seem either exclusive to their areas or just not active and I’d hate to turn into one of those who sets up but then does nothing.
What I want for the organization is the following:
So that’s what I want to do. I don’t even know where to start or how to get people involved. I would think first I’d have to think of a name. Getting all the information together too would take a long time. But I have time right now, since I am job hunting. I don’t know how much it costs to get a non-profit together though. That might be the deal breaker because I need to have non-profit status in order to be taken seriously.
Anyhow if anyone knows anything on how to do this shoot me a comment!
So lately I’ve been noticing more people on bikes on the road. This typically isn’t an issue and I think nothing of it, I mean good for them for doing that, I’d never do it myself.
What gets me is how apparently most cyclists in this city believe the damn law doesn’t apply to them though. I’ve seen cyclists go through STOP signs and RED lights of all things.
One guy had the freaking balls to give me dirty looks and put up his hand to tell me to STOP as he freaking ran the STOP sign! I mean seriously, the laws of the road apply to you too, STOP your bike and wait your damn turn.
“But it takes more energy to start back up, I have to keep my pace!”
Boohoo on you then. You chose the bike, you should use it responsibly. I mean seriously when they get injured or killed because they disregarded the rules, you’ll hear a crap load of bitching because cars have no respect. But perhaps it’s actually the cyclists that have no respect? Especially when it seems they think the law doesn’t apply to them at all.
Oh and these aren’t casual cyclists I’m talking about, these are those ones with the high performance bikes and the fancy riding outfits. They seem to have the most disrespect for the road. The casual cyclists obey every law. I’ve never seen a guy in his t-shirt and shorts with his backpack disregard the laws of the roads, only those who seem to think they’re professionals at bike riding.
So next week finally Brian and I are going to see a counselor and at least start talking out some of our feelings and so forth in regards to what has happened. I’m not sure what’s going to come of it, I’m hoping a better understanding of what has happened and the ability to move. Whether we can move on together as a married couple or just as friends, will be decided by these sessions.
That’s hard to say, that the possibility of marriage is still open for me because it’s often hard to know what is right in this situation especially when so many people feel that even contemplating staying married is plain stupid.
Yeah a lot has happened and there comes a point where one has to decide whether it’s gone too far. Also you have to figure out whether you’re still in love or you’re in love with what was normal and afraid to go do something new.
I don’t know, I honestly have no idea. I worry about a lot of things that frankly shouldn’t be worried about, mainly what people will think if somehow we work things out and remain married.
Well I do a lot of praying in the hopes that the “right thing” will be revealed to me and make things a bit easier.
