Killing to Save Lives…

As many know yesterday a doctor in Kansas was killed while at church because he is one of the few that performs a medically necessary late term abortion procedure for women. I say medically necessary because no doctor does these types of procedures just because someone asks for them.

The comments on some of the news stories and the comments on Twitter are just down right scary though. Some (I say some because most look at this as a horrible thing to happen) have praised the man who killed Dr. Tiller. It’s amazing to me that people could even see any right in this action. First if this guy was a “murderer” as they thought there is a legal system in place who deals with criminals. We shouldn’t take the law into our own hands. Of course they have tried the legal system, which hasn’t worked for them because we’ll IT’S NOT ILLEGAL to do what this doctor was doing. So some moron (who by the way if you look at his past was a terrorist just as bad as any extremist radical Muslim terrorists we know) decided it was time to take the law into his own hands and kill the doctor.

Hopefully he rots in jail for the rest of his life.

But the leap in logic. To say “I’m saving thousands or millions of unborn children so killing one person is okay” just doesn’t work for me. God says, “Thou Shalt Not Kill.” He doesn’t say, “Thou Shalt Not Kill if only it serves your belief system.” Now some will say, what about protecting yourself from someone trying to hurt you or the military? What about what they do? Well that’s different, although some would say our current war is wrong and that killing shouldn’t be happening. See the difference, we’re defending ourselves and protecting actual living human beings. The killing of a doctor over abortion, which is not killing a actual living, breathing human being, just a potential human being, is not the same.

I think people also are extremely ignorant as to what a late term abortion is and why they happen. I have a blog sphere friend who sadly had to have a later in her pregnancy abortion (not a third trimester because she wasn’t quite there yet but a near her third trimester “abortion”). She didn’t want it. I know she fought long and hard to not have it because she wanted her boys to live and be well. But you know what, that didn’t happen. And instead of being able to carry her boys to term it damn near killed her. And the only way to save her was to do a procedure that some would say was murder. But you know what, in the end the life of the mother is most important because frankly she’s the one who is already living and breathing without relying on another human being to live. Some may think that’s cold but honestly I don’t see how you can see it any different. You can work and do your best to save everyone which I’m more than sure she would have loved in the end, but sometimes it just doesn’t work out that way.

So these people who are against late term abortions don’t even understand the procedure or why it’s done. They make assumptions that people walk into these clinics and say, “I don’t want this baby.” and some doctor says, “Okay lets do an abortion.” Sorry folks it’s not how it works. Someone once said to me, “Well why do they have to abort the child that way?” Maybe it’s because it’s the quickest and most safe for the mother? I mean seriously people do you think they make these things up just to torture unborn babies? Do you think mothers and doctors get some sick kick out of doing these procedures?

So now one of the few doctors who saves mother’s lives in the mid-United States is dead. Now what are the women in his area to do when they have a medically life threatening condition which will force termination of their pregnancies. Don’t people realize more death will occur of not only Mothers but Babies as well if this type of procedure isn’t allowed?

Anyhow I’m just disgusted with the perversion of the Christian religion by some wacko’s out there. To kill a man in his own Church. God surely isn’t looking down thinking this was the right thing to do.
